Adding stuff to things to do on my bucket list

Everyone has a bucket list right? Or at least, knows what it is? For the uninformed a bucket list is basically a list of things you’d like to do/accomplish before you “kick the bucket” (in other words, before you die).

When I first started this list close to a year ago, I didn’t really think of it as that type of list. On that particular birthday 11 months ago, I had more or less just suffered a mild to moderate mid life crisis. Funny now, not so funny back then. I just remember thinking, “Wow, I’ve been on this Earth for that long and I haven’t really learned anything outside of a career that I could say I was passionate about.” So I set to it.

I’m proud to say that I was able to choose 3 things that I AM very passionate about, and have done my best at sticking with them. Yeah, I had to shuffle some stuff around financially, but in the end totally worth it. As one can see on written on the column to the right, the 3 things I chose were guitar, brazilian jiu jitsu/muay thai, and photography. I vaguely remember how I arrived at these three activities, but I know that I promised myself that I would pursue these activities for at least 10 years, through thick and thin so that on that 3,650th day from the start of these activities, I would know for a fact that a) I stuck with something and definitely saw it through and b) I would be good at it (there’s just no way around it. If you do something for 10 years and you’re not good at it, there’s something wrong with you). Looks like 2018 will be an amazing year for me, God willing that I’m still a) alive and b) I’m still as determined to continue these activities as I am now, haha.

Anyway, I totally rambled but really what I wanted to do was add to this list was that each year visit some place (either in the U.S. or abroad) and write about it. Granted, I’m definitely going to have to figure things out financially, but I figure by writing things down like this it’d motivate me to actually REALLY do something about it. Some things I’d like to do off the top of my head:

- Running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain
I found a tips page for doing this to avoid injury. My 2 favorites:

  • Take the corners tight, as the bulls are going to go wide.
  • Don’t drink, and if that’s not possible, don’t drink too much.

- Oktoberfest, German
- La Tomatina Tomato Fight in Bunyol, Spain

- Carnival, Brazi
- Watch the Billabong Pipemasters Surf Championships, North Shore, Hawai’i

Will definitely add to this list as time goes on. Hopefully one day I can be secure enough financially that I’d be able to do 2-3 of these a year. Here’s to hoping, wishing and waiting!
